8 x Louis Chairs

Project - Restoration, repair, reupholstery and recover of 8 x dining chairs.

We just completed restoration and reupholstery of these Italian made Eurpoean beech Louis style chairs for Mark and Julie from Pennant Hills. These chairs required full repair work to loose frame joints, touch up polishing, reupholstery and recovering in new fabric.

Mark bought these chairs in the late 90s and after much family use they had started. Mark compared the cost of restoring the chairs vs buying new chairs of the same quality and discovered it was more cost effective to recover.

The fabric on these chairs is called Casual Desert by Zepel Fabrics. The fabric is a Fibreguard fabric range from Zepel which means it's an easy clean fabric.

Two matching vintage button-back wing chairs

Two matching vintage button-back wing chairs

Project Scope

Two matching vintage button-back wing chairs. Fully reupholstered, restored and recovered for Angeline from Sydney’s northern beaches. The old covers were completely stripped from the chair. The chairs required repair work to the bases of the chairs as they were completely gone. Sections of the original upholstery required repairing and some sections were replaced as they had broken down and deteriorated. The seat cushion was replaced with premium medium density foam with a dacron wrap to give the seating position a more supportive yet comfortable form. The chairs were then traditionally recovered. The legs were also restored and repolished.

The Before Photo

Obviously the chairs had seen better days and really required some good TLC to bring them back to their former glory. Never underestimate the restoration potential of any piece of furniture. So often customers tell us that they didn't expect their furniture could come up so well given the state they were in prior to restoration or reupholstery. It's amazing what can be achieved with a little TLC.
